This explains what Outpost Nova stores about you and why. It is written in plain language. Outpost Nova is made by one independent developer.
What we store
- Your username. It is public: it appears on the highscores and over your character in the game.
- Your password. We never store it. We keep only a salted, one-way hash, so nobody (including us) can read it back.
- Your recovery code. Also stored only as a one-way hash.
- Your character. Your game save (skills, items, progress) is stored on our server so you can play from any device. Your skill levels and XP are shown publicly on the highscores.
- Login sessions. A random token on each device you are signed in on. We store only a hash of it.
- Network address. To limit abuse (many new accounts, password guessing), we keep a salted hash of your IP address with a time stamp. These records are deleted automatically within a day. We do not store your raw IP address.
What other players see
While you are in the shared world, nearby players see your username, level, appearance, worn gear, position and zone. The online list shows your username, zone and level to everyone who opens it. Chat messages are delivered live to the players who should receive them and are not stored by us.
What we do not do
We do not sell or share your data, run advertising, or use third-party tracking in the game. We do not ask for your email address or real name.
Where it is processed
The game and its servers run on Cloudflare, which processes requests on our behalf and keeps its own standard technical logs. Your browser also stores your saved character and login on your own device.
Your choices
- You can change your password, make a new recovery code, or sign out of every device from the game's settings.
- To have your account and character deleted, or to ask any question about your data, contact [contact email to be added].
Children
Outpost Nova is not aimed at young children. Please do not create an account if you are under 13.
Changes
If this changes in a way that matters, the date at the top will change and we will say so in the game.
